The sickle or Kama is made from a hard wook trucheon from the end of which a crescent-shaped blade extends at a right angle. The blade has a single edge on the concave side which is razor sharp.
The Kama may be used singly or in pairs and lend themselves to a variety of offensive and defensive moves. They can be used to chop at or snare the opponent. The trucheon can augment a forearm block. They are either held by the handles or along the forearm with the blades protruding outwards.
Used primarily as a close-in weapon, the Kama is difficult to counter.
